Edward J. Moses joined Mackenzie Hughes in 1969. Ed focuses on representing
several of Central New York's leading businesses in mergers, acquisitions,
divestitures and counseling on matters relating to corporate affairs and
governance. He has represented several upstate banks in mergers with other
banks. During his legal career, Ed has also provided counsel to many national
and regional engineering companies assisting them to build their practice
and reputations to their current prominent levels. The engineering companies
include O'Brien & Gere Engineers, Inc., C&S Engineers, Inc., Stearns
& Wheler, LLC, Robson Woese Inc., and their affiliated entities.
In 1965, Ed received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University
and in 1968, he graduated from Syracuse University College of Law with
a Juris Doctorate. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1968,
the U.S. Supreme Court in 1974 and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit
in 1976.
Ed served as a regular and reserve in the United States Coast Guard from
1968 through 1974.
He is a member of the Onondaga County, New York State and American Bar
Associations. He is a member and former president of the Board of Directors
of the Georgetown Club of Central New York, a current honorary member
and former chair of the Christian Brothers Academy Board of Trustees,
a current member of the Community General Hospital Board of Directors,
a former member and chair of the Community-General Foundation Board of
Directors, and a member of the Hoyas Unlimited and Georgetown University
Crease Club Boards of Directors. He is also a former member of the Syracuse
University College of Law Board of Visitors and a member of the Georgetown
University Regional Alumni Interviewing Committee.
Ed is a former president and member of the Marcellus Athletic Booster
Club Board of Directors, a member and past president of the Vagabonds
Golf Group Board of Directors, and a former member of the Onondaga County
Bar Association Board of Directors. He is also a former chair and member
of the New York State Bar Association Young Lawyer Section and a former
member of the New York State Bar Association House of Delegates. He is
also a member of the Finance Committee of the Onondaga County Republican
Committee.
Over the years, Ed has received numerous awards for his community service.
He is a recipient of the Christian Brothers Academy St. John Baptist De
La Salle Alumnus-Trustee-Benefactor Award, the Christian Brothers Academy
Purple and Gold Award, and the Marcellus Athletic Booster Club Wall of
Fame Award. He also received the Bishop's Medallion at the annual Catholic
Charities House of Providence Dinner in June 2002.
In his spare time, Ed enjoys spending time with his wife of 36 years,
their five sons and their sons' families. He also enjoys sports such as
golf, skiing, billiards, tennis, lacrosse, football, and baseball.
